Training & Education

Holding qualifications in teaching and outdoor leadership, we have been delivering training programmes for 18 years. All focused around the natural world, we aim to inspire and educate students of all ages and walks of life through formal presentations, group exercises and individual experiential learning experiences.

Over the years Nick has delivered many long term accredited qualifications, written and delivered a myriad of Continued Professional Development programmes for outdoor educators and Industry professionals.

We are approved trainers through the VETree project and the Ancient Tree Forum to deliver ‘Valuing and Managing Veteran Trees’. This is a one day introductory course aimed at those who are responsible for managing areas with veteran trees, anyone who owns veteran trees or has a keen interest. We are also currently running a one day Woodland Management course for the Sustainability Centre in Hampshire.

From working with local schools to countryside professionals we can write and deliver bespoke training programmes to suit your needs.

Please do get in touch to discuss your requirements.

“I have worked alongside Nick for a few years now delivering Forest School training., and must say it has been a privilege to be with such a knowledgeable trainer par excellence.  If you want natural history, in particular trees and a sense of how the past informs our nature connection and living today, then don’t look any further. Nick has a wealth of experience to pull on. He is a very approachable facilitator and makes things easy to understand, starting with the learner experience, building slowly and hey presto suddenly we all become tree experts! He is an excellent craftsman and teaches ‘craft’ in a very accessible way, working with the individual learner’s creativity.  And what’s more he has a wicked sense of humour!  I now value him both as a colleague and friend.”

Jon Cree

Ecological Educator and Trainer, Founding Director of Forest School Association and International Trainer for Institute for Earth Education.

Nick is hugely knowledgeable but wears this lightly and is able to teach & model concepts and skills with patience and in an engaging way.  His friendly and open manner encourages questions and the sharing of your own learning. He was able to scaffold my learning of a wide range of bush craft skills and knowledge in a considered and positive way and I would highly recommend him as a tutor.
