Habitat Creation & Enhancement
Understanding ecology and ecosystems is vital for creating new or enhancing existing habitats. We work with a range of clients on projects of various sizes, which vary from creating a new wildlife habitat in a redundant area of private garden to restoration of important habitats where protected species are involved.
Habitat creation involves creating ecosystems where they would not normally exist or if they did in the past have ceased due to environmental or physical factors. These may be created to increase biodiversity encouraging mammals, birds, butterflies, invertebrates, reptiles, flowers etc.
Habitat enhancement will increase the biological importance to an already existing area. For instance, this may come in the form of introducing certain plants or trees or even their removal, letting areas grow wild or manage unwanted growth on a regular basis. Observing the landscape and understanding what species of flora and fauna are already present is vitally important.
We work closely with our clients, devising monitoring programs and creating management plans.
